Step 1: Enable Samba Server on the X10, X12, X30 or X40

  • Go SETUP -> NETWORK SERVICE -> SAMBA SERVER and make sure the red tick is next to β€œOn”.
  • Restart your X10 

Note: it is not necessary to change the Hostname or Workgroup

Step 2: Enable file sharing and discovery on your PC

Step 3: Make sure you can see the X10, X12, X30 or X40 from your PC

  • Open 'My Computer'
  • Select 'Network' from the Navigation Pane
  • Check that you can open  'X10', 'X12', 'X30 or 'X40' from the 'Computer' section
    • You will see 2 folders
      • Music DB
      • Local Storages

Note: making any changes to the Music DB folder can corrupt the database on your X10, X12, X30 or X40

Step 4: Add the Music DB folder on the X10, X12, X30 or X40 as NAS Drive in the SONOS desktop app

Note: If you have changed the hostname under network service -> Samba Server on your X10, X12, X30 or X40, the pathname will be \\<hostname>\MusicDB
