NOVAFIDELITY Support - HOW TO:
import existing digital music files to your X10, X12, X30 or X40

Below you will find step-by-step instructions on importing files from your PC/Mac...

  1. using a USB hard-drive

  2. over your network from a PC

  3. over you network from the X10, X12, X30 or X40

The NOVAFiDELITY plays all Apple music file formats (AAC/ALAC) so there is no need to convert your music files when transferring them to your X10 or X30

This is a 2-stage process:

  1. Locate the music you want to import on your PC/Mac
  2. Transfer the files to your X10 or X30
    1. Using a USB memory Stick or external Hard-drive
    2. Direct from your PC via USB cable (X10 only)
    3. Direct from your PC over your network

Note: Music files will not appear in the X10 or X30 Music DB if you simply copy them across to the hard-drive.

The following guide applies for importing any music stored on your PC/Mac, USB Memory Stick, External Hard-drive, NAS Drive or other streaming component (e.g. another X10/X30), and not just iTunes.

1. Locating the music files you want to import

  • In iTunes go Preferences -> Advanced and look for iTunes Media Folder Location
    • On a PC they are typically stored in the Music folder in My Documents

2. Transferring the music files to your X10 or X30

2.1. Using a USB memory stick/external hard-drive

  • Connect a USB memory stick or hard-drive to your PC
  • Copy the folder, album or tracks to the USB Memory Stick/Hard-drive
  • Plug the memory stick or hard-drive into your X10 or X30
  • In the menu on your go Browser -> USB and locate the folder which contains music files you want to import
  • Select/highlight the folder, album or track and press Menu on the remote
  • Select Import to DB and follow the instructions on screen
  • The music will then be added to the Music DB on your X10 or X30 along with the tag information

2.2 Direct from your PC via USB cable (X10 only)

  • Plug the X10 directly into your PC using the cable provided in the box
  • On your PC the X10 will appear as a removable drive
  • Drag and drop the folder, album or tracks into the root directory of the X10 Hard Drive
    • he root directory is just the top level folder
  • Disconnect the USB cable once the transfer is complete
  • On your X10 select Browser -> HDD
  • You will see the music you have copied across
  • Highlight a folder, album or track and press Menu on the remote
  • Select Import to DB and follow the instructions on screen
  • The music will then be added to the Music DB on your X10 or X30 along with the tag information
